The Wind Energy Industry continues to expand rapidly in South Africa, this fast-growing industry requires numerous well-trained staff, especially service technicians.

Wind Turbine Service Technicians (WTST) are specialized in servicing and maintaining modern multi- megawatt wind turbine systems and are one of the key job-drivers for developing the renewable energy industry.

Duration of course: 8 Months (6 months Theory and Practical + 2 Months In-service)
VENUE: The program is offered at SARETEC’s specialised wind training centre in Bellville, Cape Town.

Application closing date: 07 March 2025
Interviews conducted: 10 March 2025
Programme to commence: 01April 2025

Qualification requirements: NQF level 4 National Diploma Electrical, Mechanical, Fitting and Turning Millwright, and Mechatronics.

Application requirements:

  • Reside in the Western Cape: Theewaterskloof Local Municipality
  • Priority Municipality Areas [Botriver, Caledon, Grabouw, Gardendale, Tesselaarsdal, Riviersonderd, Villiersdorp]
    (PROOF OF RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS IN FORM OF A UTILITY OR RETAIL BILL NOT OLDER THEN 3 MONTHS, A LEASE AGREEMENT OR AN AFFIDAVIT FROM THE LANDLORD)
  • Preferred 3 years post tertiary education experience.
  • Age Criteria: Between the ages of 18 – 34 years old.
  • Demographics, gender and ethnicity: Strictly Youth, Black, Female candidates will be prioritised. Male candidates are still encouraged to apply.
  • Physically and mentally fit (Construction and Working at Heights). Full medicals will be undertaken at SARETEC.

Eligibility criteria:

  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • No criminal record.
  • Have no outstanding fees owing to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
  • Can not be enrolled in another programme at CPUT or any other Higher Educational Institution.
